Dubai to launch ‘Rent Now, Pay Later’ service

Dubai’s rental market is entering a new phase, with greater focus on flexibility, affordability and how tenants manage their housing costs. In line to this, Dubai is set to launch a “Rent Now, Pay Later” service in September, allowing tenants to spread annual rent payments over up to 12 months without interest.

The initiative is being developed by the Dubai Land Department in partnership with a local bank and is designed to make rental payments more flexible.

Under the proposed system, the participating bank would pay the landlord the full annual rent upfront, while the tenant would repay the bank in monthly installments over a period of up to 12 months at zero interest. The final eligibility criteria, application process and repayment terms are expected to be announced when the service officially launches.

The initiative follows DLD’s “Flexi Rent” programme, introduced in June, which expanded rental payment options to monthly, quarterly and semi-annual installments.

The road ahead

These measures signal a broader shift towards a more flexible rental market, giving tenants more options while supporting stability across Dubai’s housing sector.
