Sheikh Mohammed highlights record Non-Oil trade growth

The UAE has recorded another milestone in its economic journey, with non-oil foreign trade reaching a record AED1.937 trillion ($527.4 billion) during the first six months of 2026. The strong performance highlights the country’s successful diversification strategy.

Reviewing the latest figures on 19 July 2026, Sheikh Mohammed Rashid Al Maktoum described the results as historic. He said the figures reflect the strength of the UAE economy, the success of its long-term development strategy and the confidence global markets continue to place in the country.

“Numbers reflect the strength of our economy, the effectiveness of our development choices, and the world’s confidence in the UAE,” Sheikh Mohammed said.

Trade activity remained consistently strong, averaging AED322.8 billion each month, or around AED10.7 billion every day. At the current pace, annual trade is expected to surpass AED3.8 trillion, exceeding the record set in 2025.

One of the key drivers behind this growth is the UAE’s CEPA programme. Since launching in 2021, the initiative has opened new markets for UAE businesses by lowering trade barriers and simplifying customs procedures.

By 2026, additional agreements had come into effect, further expanding the country’s access to international markets and strengthening trade across new global corridors.

Significant investment across sectors including logistics, manufacturing, tourism, technology, financial services and renewable energy has reduced reliance on oil while creating new sources of growth. Dubai’s economy also expanded by 2.4% in the first quarter of 2026, supported by strong activity across multiple industries.
