Sheikh Mohammed announces UAE budget breakdown for 2027–2029

The UAE is continuing to invest in public services, social welfare and long-term development, with a new federal budget of Dh292.5 billion approved for 2027 to 2029. Announced by Sheikh Mohammed Rashid, the budget marks an 8.3% increase compared to the previous three-year period.

The government has set education, healthcare, housing, social services, quality of life and stability as its key priorities. For 2027, the federal budget has been approved at Dh90.1 billion, with a significant share directed towards social development and pensions.

Social development and pensions will receive Dh34.6 billion, accounting for 38.4% of the total budget. Government affairs will receive Dh29.1 billion, or 32.3%, while Dh17.8 billion has been allocated to federal expenses.

The remaining budget includes Dh5.6 billion for financial assets and investments, representing 6.2%, and Dh3 billion for infrastructure and economic resources, accounting for 3.4%.

The allocation reflects the UAE’s continued focus on public welfare and essential services, alongside investment in infrastructure and economic resources.

Dubai has also announced a major budget plan for 2026 to 2028, with projected expenditure of Dh302.7 billion and revenue of Dh329.2 billion. The plan includes an operating surplus of 5% and reflects the emirate’s focus on maintaining strong public finances while supporting development.

Bottom line

The UAE’s latest federal budget continues this approach, placing public services and quality of life at the centre of government spending. By directing funds towards social development, infrastructure and investment, the country aims to support its long-term economic growth and maintain stability.
