Dubai has always been a city of firsts, known for pushing boundaries in architecture and infrastructure. The latest project set to make headlines is the world’s tallest metro station, developed by Emaar properties in Dubai Creek Harbour.
The station, named the “Iconic Station,” was showcased at the Dubai International Project Management Forum 2026, organized by the RTA. Rising 74 metres along the new Blue Line of the Dubai Metro, it will cover 11,000 square metres and is designed to handle up to 160,000 passengers every day.
Renowned global architects Skidmore, Owings and Merrill have designed the station around the concept of a “crossing gateway.” The interiors will feature limestone finishes, bronze toned metal panels, granite flooring, and spacious layouts. Large glass panels will allow natural light to fill the lobby and platform levels, creating a bright and welcoming environment for commuters.
The road ahead
Scheduled for completion in 2029, the Emaar Iconic Station will serve not only as a transit hub but also as a landmark that unites innovative design, practical functionality, and sustainable features, further cementing Dubai’s reputation as a global leader in visionary architecture and urban development.
