Malls in Dubai to be turned into huge running tracks

Dubai has long distinguished itself as a city that continuously elevates the standards of modern living. From its futuristic skyline to its seamless blend of tradition and progress, the emirate continues to build a model for cities of the future.

This summer, Dubai is raising the bar once more with the introduction of the Dubai Mallathon, an innovative wellness initiative that places physical activity at the centre of daily life.

Launched by Sheikh Hamdan, the Dubai Mallathon is more than just a health programme. It is a city-wide effort to encourage people to stay active, feel healthy, and connect with others. From August 1 to 31, seven popular shopping malls will turn into fitness zones every morning from 7:00 to 10:00 AM. These malls include Dubai Mall, Dubai Hills Mall, Mall of the Emirates, Springs Souk, City Centre Deira, City Centre Mirdif, and Dubai Marina Mall.

The programme aligns with major government initiatives such as the Year of Community, Dubai Social Agenda 33, and the Dubai Quality of Life Strategy 33. Together, these efforts reflect Dubai’s wider vision to improve living standards, promote stronger community bonds, and honour the emirate’s cultural, architectural, and environmental heritage.

The Dubai Mallathon offers a comprehensive experience, featuring walking and running tracks, health education stations, fitness tracking tools, guided stretching sessions, and dedicated areas for children. Open to all residents including young people, families, senior citizens, and mall staff the programme is designed to be inclusive and community-focused.

Registration for the Dubai Mallathon is free and can be completed through the official website. Once registered, participants receive a digital card confirming their enrolment, granting them access to the programme’s various activities. In partnership with retail stores and restaurants, the initiative also features special offers that support healthy eating and encourage long-term lifestyle improvements.

Speaking on the initiative, Sheikh Hamdan highlighted Dubai’s ongoing commitment to human-centric development. “With the Dubai Mallathon, we’re turning familiar spaces into places that inspire movement, connection, and better habits. This reflects our broader commitment to placing people and families at the heart of our development plans,” he said.

The Road Ahead

In essence, the Dubai Mallathon is not just about fitness; it’s about fostering a culture of health and community. It invites every resident to take part in building a city where wellness is a way of life and where every step forward contributes to a stronger, more connected Dubai.
