GCC to Launch Unified Visa Across Six Member States

Not all regional agreements make headlines but this one deserves attention. The UAE is positioned to play a leading role in a significant regional development that will redefine travel across the Gulf.

The upcoming unified tourist visa, introduced by the Gulf Cooperation Council, will enable effortless movement across six member nations UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, and Oman signifying a significant advancement in regional connectivity and tourism growth.

The announcement was made by GCC Secretary General Jassem Al Budaiwi following the 39th meeting of the heads of Interior Ministries’ passport departments. Once implemented, the visa will enable non-GCC nationals to travel freely between all six countries using a single permit, eliminating the need for multiple visas and entry requirements.

For the UAE, an established global tourism hub, this initiative reaffirms its dedication to deepening regional cooperation and enhancing its position as a strategic entry point to the broader Gulf. The unified visa supports the UAE’s wider objectives of facilitating access, increasing visitor numbers, and advancing coordinated growth across the region.

The GCC Secretariat commended the collective efforts of member states in progressing toward the implementation of the unified visa, emphasizing their joint commitment to adopting advanced technologies and aligning with international security standards. Although the official launch date has not been announced, initial reports indicate that the visa will allow stays ranging from 30 to 90 days and will be applicable for both tourism and family visits.

As Gulf nations pursue economic diversification and closer intra-regional cooperation, the unified tourist visa emerges as a landmark achievement. It reflects the collective intent of Gulf states to foster a more integrated, competitive, and accessible tourism landscape, positioning the UAE and its regional counterparts as a unified destination on the global stage.
