In recent years, the UAE has solidified its position as one of the world’s safest and most prosperous destinations, drawing a diverse population from over 200 nations. This unique allure has not only spurred economic growth but has also transformed the UAE into a thriving cultural mosaic, supported by a robust economy and strategic investments. As we delve into 2024, the population figures reveal telling insights into the country’s demographic and economic evolution.

According to the latest census, the UAE’s population has surged to 12.5 million, with the urban centres of Dubai and Abu Dhabi contributing significantly to this growth. Dubai alone, with a population of approximately 3.79 million, continue to be an economic powerhouse. Much of this increase is driven by an expat workforce, making up a staggering 88.5% of the population, while Emiratis constitute only 11.5%.

With a young, professional population, the UAE is well-positioned to maintain its status as a top investment destination. Individuals aged between 25 and 54 make up around 68.6% of the population, underscoring a highly active and dynamic workforce.

Gender distribution reveals a higher male-to-female ratio, with males accounting for 69% of the population, a statistic largely attributed to labour dynamics. Nevertheless, demographic trends are shifting in response to evolving economic opportunities and targeted social agendas like the “Dubai Social Agenda 33,” aimed at bolstering Emirati representation and integrating Emiratis into the private sector.

In terms of nationality, the UAE primarily consists of expatriates, with Indians accounting for 4.75 million and Pakistanis for 2.09 million. Over 88% of the nation’s population are expats, underlining the nation’s international appeal.

As the UAE’s population continues to grow, driven by economic opportunities and quality of life, Dubai remains at the forefront of this transformation. The emirate’s forward-thinking policies and infrastructure developments ensure it remains an attractive destination for individuals and families, seeking to enjoy a prosperous life in one of the world’s safest cities.
